Wind Turbines
|
In the UK we
have 40% of Europe's total wind energy. But it's still largely untapped
and only 0.5% of our electricity requirements are currently generated by
wind power. Small-scale wind power is particularly suitable for remote
off-grid locations where conventional methods of supply are expensive or
impractical; power is stored in batteries or can be used for direct
heating.
Wind systems can also be installed where there is a grid connection. An
inverter converts DC electricity to AC at a quality and standard
acceptable to the grid. No battery storage is required. Any unused or
excess electricity can be exported to the grid and sold to the local
electricity supply company It's common to combine this system with another
e.g. solar PV for use during periods of low wind speeds. A combined wind
and PV system gives greater efficiency and flexibility.
Planning permission will usually be required, it generally does not
cause any great problems but it is always wise to consult your neighbours
first, it will take around four weeks and requires a small fee.
As a general rule we would require twice the length of the chosen mast
to install the wind turbine and suitable access for delivery, a wind speed
of at least 4.6m/s and the turbine should be situated towards south west
for the strongest winds. Foundations will be required and can be installed
by a local builder or by us, a foundation pack can be sent out several
weeks prior to the mast installation.

speed average, these include

MiniWind Turbines
The "miniwind" range of domestic wind turbines have been developed
specifically to cope with the extreme conditions often associated with
wind
power.
| MiniWind 1100-24 & MiniWind 1100-48 Battery Charging Turbines
Supplied with 1.8m rotors, and variable blade angles, these turbines can
be
adjusted by the user to suit both low and high wind speed sites. These
Downwind
machines are our "entry level" turbines, and are suitable for battery
charging.
The unique ability of all of our turbines to be "best matched" to each
installation
site gives our turbines the flexibility that our customers have requested.
These
rugged turbines are built to last, using high quality components, that
have been
chosen specifically for the task. For low wind sites, or inland locations,
these
turbines will provide a long lasting, reliable battery charging source.
The
maximum power output is limited by both the number of blades and the PM
Generator's own configuration. A charge controller should be used when
charging battery banks of under 200Ahr. Large capacity banks will not
generally
require the use of a charge controller. For power curves and product
manuals
see below...Note, your turbine should not be operated in dangerously high
wind
conditions, and we suggest that all miniwind turbines are automatically or
manually disabled in winds consistently above 15m/s. Blade angles can be
altered to increase this speed to much higher levels, but please consult
us on this
before fitting and operating your turbine. |

MiniWind 2200-24, MiniWind 2200-48 & MiniWind 2200-300 (Grid Tie System)
Supplied with 1.8m rotors, and variable blade angles, these turbines can
be
adjusted by the user to suit both low and high wind speed sites. These
Downwind
machines are our "premium level" turbines, and are suitable for battery
charging
and Grid-Tie connections. The unique ability of all of our turbines to be
"best
matched" to each installation site gives our turbines the flexibility that
our
customers have requested. These rugged turbines are built to last, using
high
quality components, that have been chosen specifically for the task. For
high
wind sites, or coastal locations, these turbines will provide a long
lasting, reliable
power source. Incorporating our rugged RC2200 PM Generators, these turbine
can operate at much higher wind speeds than the 1100 range, making them
ideal for use on exposed sites... |

MiniWind Hydraulic Tower
Manufactured specifically for the entire MiniWind range of turbines, these
towers are extremely well built and are produced to a very high standard,
giving years of maintenance free use. Constructed in 5 sections, these
towers
consist of a Pedestal Base, Lower, Mid & Upper tower sections, and a
removable top spigot piece to adapt to the MiniWind Yaw tube. The tower is
raised and lowered by the use of a Hydraulic Ram and Compressor (sold
separately form the tower kit) and can be used by both installers and the
DIY
enthusiast. The concrete base required to support this tower is 1m x 1m x
1.2m
deep and uses 40 Newton concrete mix. We are able to supply this tower for
any turbine up to 3m in diameter. All we require to know is the type of
turbine,
and type of fitting required at the tower top to suit your turbine. These
towers will
make your complete system look both professional and robust, while the
hydraulic actuator allows you to raise and lower the tower with safety and
ease.
 Proven Wind Turbines
Proven WT2500 2.5kw The 2.5kW Proven wind turbine is the ideal wind turbine for powering a
standard 3-bed house in the UK. The output almost matches typical demand
of such a house (electrical appliances only, not electric heating) and can
provide a little power for exporting in some cases. Several hundred of
these
turbines and its predecessor have been successfully installed world- wide.
Surviving everything from hurricanes and cyclones to freezing cold
temperatures in the Arctic and scalding heat in the desert. This
all-rounder is
also aesthetically pleasing from a planning perspective due to its height
being
similar to that of a 600-watt telegraph pole and overall physical scale
being in
tune with a domestic dwelling. WT 2500Rated Output: - 2500W (2.5kW)
Voltages available: - 12V / 24V / 48V / 120V / 240V / 300V
Annual Output - 2,500-5,000 kWh*
Rotor Diameter: - 3.5m
Hub Height: - 6.5m / 11m
Prices start from £11,700 excluding VAT and ground works (Ground works can
be carried out by a local builder or we can arrange this for you).
Proven WT6000 6kw WT 6000A 6kW turbine will give about 3 times more power than a 2.5kW wind
turbine and therefore is better suited to a larger house or to someone who
wants to generate an excess of electricity for exporting on to the
national
grid. This turbine is an extrapolation of the technology used to design
and
build the 2.5kW wind turbine and is therefore just as reliable and robust.
Rated Output: - 6000W (6kW)
Voltages available: - 48V / 120V / 240V / 300V
Annual Output - 6,000-12,000 kWh*
Rotor Diameter: - 5.5m
Hub Height: - 9m / 15m
Prices start from £17,580 excluding VAT and ground works (Ground works can
be carried out by a local builder or we can arrange this for you).
Proven WT15000 15kw The most recent addition to the Proven Energy product range is the
WT15000.
This serious size turbine is ideal for light industrial, light commercial
and
agricultural use. With this sort of power you can easily power about 6 or
7
typical 3-bed houses in the UK (depending on your wind resource of
course). Rated Output: - 15000W (15kW)
Voltages available: - 48V / 300V
